    "Pond Happenings"

    APRIL 2005 Newsletter

    APRIL MEETING HIGHLITES

The April 9th meeting of the GPPS convened at the home and pond of Raymond and Josette. Thanks for being such wonderful hosts. The meeting was called to order at 9:15 am by President Dan. Due to the absence of Ed the raffle was deferred; however, Dan gave Ed’s treasurer’s report. Dan welcomed two visitors to the meeting. Several members were concerned that the newsletter had not reached them in time for the meeting. The editor responded that she would get the newsletter out earlier in the future. Dan reminded the membership of the trip to Sierra Vista on April 16th to meet with the Tucson Water Gardening Club and indicated that he had directions for those who wished to go.
Clyde Parks reported that six ponds were going to be on the May 14th Pond Tour. Fliers were distributed to members to be posted. He indicated that volunteers were still needed to assist the hosts at the ponds. Ray then described his 6400 gallon cement lined pond and explained the equipment that he had used in its creation. The Koi were absolutely beautiful. The speaker for the meeting was Rob Lang of the “The Pond Perfecter”. He described the correct way to incorporate new fish into an existing pond and how to construct an isolation tank for new fish. He also discussed symptoms of fish diseases and products that could be used to treat these conditions. He went on to describe treat these conditions. He went on to discuss appropriate water temperatures, length of time to isolate new fish, He stressed the fact that new plant and fish can bring disease. Thanks Rob for a great talk.
