Memoirs from our Pond Tour:

I would like to say ‘thank you’ to both Suzie and Tom for all their hard work getting the 2007 Pond Tour off and running.  Also for all the others who hosted this year, thanks for opening up your home.

I can honestly say it was a success from my standpoint.  We had two breaks all day; the first one was for about 15 minutes at high noon, and the other was at 2:00 pm, when I thought (foolish me) that it was over.  I even mentioned to Doug that he should retrieve the sign we put out at 75th Ave. But just when we thought it was over, more people showed up.  My feet were killing me, and I was so looking forward to jumping into my pool.  We signed up one new member and have 3 or 4 others who plan to attend either the May or June meetings and bring their membership application and dues.

I was initially concerned about the fact that both the Pond Gnome Tour and the Home and Landscape Show were going on simultaneously this weekend.  But there were people who were going on the Pond Gnome tour Sunday, so it may have actually helped.  We had people from all over, including Flagstaff, Prescott and Buckeye.  I think I cut my water hyacinth supply in half today.  Just about everyone wanted some.  But don’t worry Myra, I saved some for you. J  We had some Koi Society members stop by but had to leave rather precipitously when the horrendous winds tore through knocking over everything including tearing off the seat covers on my chairs.

Elizabeth Good has received an email from a new homeowner in Scottsdale.  They have inherited a koi pond with the property and plan to remove the pond.  They are looking for homes for the 30 or so koi, ranging from baby size to 18”.  If you are interested, plan to bring buckets to the May meeting.  More information will be on the bulletin board as Eliz receives it.
