Have you ever noticed that your waterfall photos don’t look like the ones in the magazines? Their waterfalls look silky and smooth, and yours almost look like they’re made of glass. Making waterfalls look this way isn’t some Photoshop trick, or some water additive. All you need to do is take the photo with a longer shutter speed to make what stationary in the frame remain crisp and clear, but anything

that is moving – like the water - blurry

and soft.

This type of shot cannot be taken while

holding your camera. You’ll need a tripod,

or a stationary object to rest the camera

on, to keep your camera steady. Most

cameras have a four modes; Program,

Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and

Manual Mode. Set your camera on

Shutter Priority and take the shot with a

one-second shutter speed. Take a look

at the photo and increase the shutter

speed for the desired effect.
